Zopo 910 review and Unboxing – Quad core with 5.3 inch qHD screen

The Zopo 910 sports a 5.3 inch screen with qHD resolution sailing on Android 4.1 over a 1.2GHz quad core processor with 1GB RAM. This handset is priced at Rs. 13,888.

Box Pack
The review unit that I got had the text ZP900 mentioned on it, however for Indian consumers the same model will be sold as the Zopo 910 and the same will be mentioned on the box pack. Inside the black box there is the 5.3 inch handset, screen guard, battery of 2300 mAh capacity, power adapter, micro USB to USB cable, standard ZOPO earphone and user guide / manual.

Review
I will make this short as it’s the same hardware that is used on many other quad core handsets. This is dual SIM handset with dual standby mode.

Design: There design is similar to the Wammy Titan II, there is a physical button on the front bottom, with touch sensitive backlit button on either sides. There is front camera of 2MP resolution along with light, proximity, accelerometer and magnetic sensors.

OS: Runs on Jelly Bean OS 4.1 with upgrade to 4.2.

Display: The screen is 5.3 inches, mulit touch IPS with resolution of 960×540 pixels (16M colour) ~ 207.82 ppi.

Memory and Storage: For the 1GB RAM you get around 669MB free and of 4GB internal storage 1.48GB is assigned for app (1.24GB free) and phone internal storage is 1.29GB.

Processor and GPU : Its MT6589 quad core clocked at 1.2GHz with PoverVR SGX 544MP GPU.

Benchmark scores

  • Quadrant Benchmark: 3337.
  • Antutu Benchmark: 12970.
  • Nenamark2: 54.4 fps.
  • Linpack : Single 36, Multi 98.
  • Multi Touch: 5 point.

8MP camera
As on most of the quad core handsets the Zopo 910 can also capture images in 12MP resolution. I did not find much of a difference in the camera quality as compared with other quad cores. You can check for yourself (sample images and video at the end of this review). There is LED flash and the front camera is of 2MP resolution.

You can record videos in 1080p (full HD) resolution. Interestingly the Zopo 810, Wammy Passion, Wammy Titan II and this one (Zopo 910) are able to record videos with max 25fps. The Micromax A116 in fact is able to record with 30fps.

You can check the sample video do note that it is a raw video shot and uploaded directly on youtube. In case you are wondering how come the shots are different let me tell you that when in video recording you have an option to pause the video, and then continue when you want.

Entertainment and Gaming: You can watch full HD videos using MX player. I did install the NOVA 3 game on the Zopo 910 handset and it worked with ease. You can install apps / games directly on external SD card (depends on the app / game).

Others: The sound is loud and clear and incall speaker is good. The handset is 10.2mm thick and weighs a little more at around 198 grams. 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS worked fine.

Battery: The 2300 mAh battery will last for a day of moderate usage. You can expect a standby time of about 120 to 180 hours.

Zopo 910 review
As mentioned it is similar to the Wammy Titan II. Interestingly both the Wammy and the Zopo handset price are nearly the same. If you look at 910 its 13,888 and Wammy Titan II is for approx 14,300 with shipping. Both the brands are providing free flip cover.  This is a good handset a good alternative (if you are ok with qHD resolution) to the Micromax A116 HD.

The Micromax A116 stock became live just yesterday but went out of stock soon. So the next alternative is this 910 or the Wammy model (both identical) depends on what is available and well, yes, the after sales criteria.
