The Zenithink ZT-282 C71+ now joins the low cost tablet bandwagon. This tablet comes with A9 Cortex processor clocked at 1 GHz with 1 GB RAM and loaded with the Android 4.0 OS. The ZT-282 C71+ does not come with built in 3G so you will have to lookout for supported 3G dongles.
If you compare this Zenithink tablet with the Xtab A10, VeeDee D10 and the latest Micromax Funbook, you will find that this tab comes with Amlogic 8726-M, Cortex A9 processor which is different from what is used on the other tabs. This tab too comes with Mali 400 GPU which is powerful enough to run most HD games. Another advantage is the 1 GB RAM which will ensure even smoother and faster experience.
Zenithink ZT-282 C71+ tablet features
Design
The tab looks great with black front and red coloured edges, which actually gives it a very classy look. The rear side is white colour (plastic) with speaker outlet. There are 3 touch sensitive buttons (just like on the Xtab A10) on the front size there is a 1.3 MP camera in top – center position. The tab is 14 mm thin and weighs 360 grams (dimension – 197 x 120 x 14 mm).
Processor and OS
The A9 core chip is known for low power consumption which also helps increase battery life, but the amlogic 8726-M (an A9 core chip) does not save much power with 1 GHz speed as its main frequency is 800 Mhz. The amlogic 8726-M comes with integrated Core Mali400 GPU which we already know performs exceptionally well. A9 chip are anyway 20% faster than A8 chip at same frequency.
When you start the tablet you are greeted by the Android 4.0 OS with some default apps, you can use the android market (Google Play) to download more apps.
Memory
This tab houses a 1 GB DDR3 RAM which is double the memory what other tabs are offering, this means the system will run even faster and smoother. Higher memory always does help increase performance and you will find that on this Zenithink tablet.
Display
The screen is 7 inches with capacitive technology with 5 point multi-touch support. The resolution is the same at 800 by 480 pixels that you will find on many low cost tablets. This resolution is not so reader friendly, but not so bad either.
Storage
The ZT-282 C71+ comes with 4 GB internal memory and does support microSD card (up to 32 GB).
Connectivity
This tab does not come with built in 3G but you can connect 3G dongle (Supported models ZTE MF80, MF637U / Huawei E1750, E161, E261 and E220). Other options are using built in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n).
Ports: 2 mini USB / 1 mini HDMI / 1 TF card slot / 1 – 3.5 mm jack.
Multimedia
The tab supports many audio (WAV, MP3, WMA, AAC etc) and video formats (DivX, AVI, MP4 etc.) and can also play Full HD 1080p videos with HDMI output support. Yes it can play games – most HD games complied for Mali 400 GPU.
Camera
There is a modest 1.3 MP front facing camera well placed on the top center just above the touchscreen. At the most you can use the cam for video chatting using Skype and for self photography / video shoot.
Other features
It supports Flash 11.1, supports multi-languages and many ebook file formats.
Battery
As already mentioned the processor clocked at 1 GHz does not help save much power and add to it the 3000 mAh Li-ion battery that the tablet houses gives a very low battery life. The manufacturer themselves claim the tab can last for about 3 hours with Wi-Fi.
Zenithink ZT-282 C71+ price in India is under Rs. 8,000. VeeDee is selling it for Rs. 7,990.
Performance wise this tab even at 1 GHz speed will perform as good as with the Allwinner CPU at 1.2 GHz. But since this tab comes with 1 GB RAM it will be much smoother and faster that the Allwinner tablets with 512 MB RAM, however it is the battery life which could be a major concern.
