After the success of YU Yureka, YU Televentures launched the YU Yuphoria for Rs. 6,999. This handset sports a 5 inch screen, comes with dual SIM slots and powered by 64 bit snapdragon 410 quad core processor.
YU Yuphoria Unboxing (Retail unit)
Inside the box : Yuphoria handset, screen guard, user guide, warranty card, data cable, travel charger (5V ~ 1.5A), battery of 2230 mAh capacity and premium quality earphone. SAR value : 0.41 W/kg @ 1g head and 0.67 W/kg @ 1g body.
Design and Display
The Yuphoria is available in Buffed Steel and Champagne Gold color options. This handset is using a metal frame with a polished look and with a strong build quality. Finishing is perfect. The overall design is also unique.
Yuphoria weight with battery is 143 grams and dimensions are 73.05 x 142.69 x 8.35 mm. Handset is comfortable to hold though the width is a little more than as seen on other handsets. The camera module on the back got a pretty exiting eye catchy design.
The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right side, the button position and design also adds to the glamorous looks. Audio jack is placed on the top and micro USB port at the bottom. There are dual mics for noise cancellation.
This is a dual SIM handset, two micro SIM slots and both slots support 4G LTE.
The YU Yuphoria sports a 5 inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and screen also comes with corning gorilla glass 3 protection. Colour reproduction and viewing angles are pretty good. Touch is very smooth and responsive. There are no dedicated navigation buttons and hence some area on the screen is used by on-screen buttons.
LED notification is missing and this handset comes packed with following sensors – accelerometer, light, proximity, gyro and magnetic.
Memory, Storage and OS
The Yuphoria is loaded with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and there is a micro SD card slot too. On the first boot you will get about 1.3GB free RAM and of the 16GB storage there is around 11 GB free space available.
Though you can use micro SD card for adding additional storage, apps by default are getting installed on the internal storage. Some apps however can be moved to SD card (there is an option to move to SD card). OTG is not supported, I was not able to access the contents of my OTG pendrive.
YU Yuphoria is running Cyanogen OS 12 based on Android Lollipop 5.0.2.
Performance
This smartphone houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 64 bit quad core processor (Cortex A53) clocked at 1.2GHz coupled with Adreno 306 GPU. Performance is smooth and I did not find it lagging. Handset also does not heat up much.
Benchmark
Benchmark App | Score |
Quadrant | 14562 |
Antutu (64 bit) | 1st – 23958 , 2nd – 23840 |
Nenamark 2 | 53.6 fps |
Multi touch | 5 point |
In battery settings there is power saving, balanced and performance mode. By default it is set to balanced mode. The 2nd test using Antutu Benchmark app was performed using performance mode. There is not much difference hence better use the default mode.
Gaming
As mentioned apps are getting installed on internal storage. I tried Asphalt 8 (got installed on internal storage). I played it in high visual quality mode and it did really well, game play was really smooth.
Camera
This smartphone comes with an 8MP AF camera packed on the rear with LED flash and a 5MP camera on the front. Camera focusing is good, fast and quality is above average. Rear as well as front camera can shoot FHD videos. There is slow motion video option too but the slow motion speed / quality is no good.

Others
Sound is very loud and clear. This handset is using wolfson stereo enhanced audio technology that sounds really great with the premium earphone that is included in the box pack. 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS worked well. Got the GPS lock instantly and it works indoors too.
I did face some issues when connecting the handset with my PC and transferring data from mobile to PC, most of the time I got the error device attached to the system is not functioning, though I was still able to browse the content, happened when copying files. Anyway could be a bug, but it can be fixed.
It takes some time for the screen to wake up when you receive a call and when the phone is in standby mode with screen off, this happens when double tap to wake is enabled (takes about 6 seconds).
Battery
This handset gets power from a 2230 mAh removable battery. Battery backup is very good you can expect about 4 to 6 hours of continuous usage (Moderate to High) on a single charge. Surprisingly the handset is also getting charged-up pretty fast.
Performance | Time | Battery drop % | Battery Max Temp |
Benchmark | 13 Minutes | 4% | 37 degree |
Gaming (Balance mode) | 26 Minutes | 11% | 35 degree |
FHD movie play with full brightness + Wi-Fi on | 23 minutes | 9% | 39 degree |
Wall Charge (on standby) | 1 hour 55 minutes | 17% to 100% (charge) | 33 degree |
Verdict
YU did it with Yureka and they did it again with Yuphoria. Everything is good about this handset, the performance, battery and even the camera quality. Plus this is dual SIM with 4G support and does not heat up much.
All this for a price of Rs. 6,999. The only issue I guess will be getting one via the flash sale.

Watch out for the Yuphoria sale and grab it if you can.
