Xolo Q600 review
Design: The dual SIM with dual standby handset weighs 147 grams and dimensions are 136.16×67.56×12.30mm. The camera lens on the rear is a bit out with a thickness of 12.79mm. I got the white color review unit, the sides are grayish silver visible from front, shiny silver line (on the side) and back cover is metallic glossy (off) white.
The power button is on right, volume rockers on left and 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB port on the top side. Built quality is good.
Display: The 4.5 inch TFT screen comes with FWVGA (854×480 pixels) resolution. The viewing angle is not that good. Touch is smooth and responsive. Xolo Q600 comes with accelerometer, light and proximity sensors.
Memory: There is 512MB RAM of which 180MB is available and of the 4GB storage you get 0.98GB as app storage and 1.79GB as internal storage. You can save / move apps to external storage.
OS: The handset runs on the Android 4.2.1 OS.
CPU / GPU and benchmark: It is clearly mentioned on the box that this handset is powered by quad core 1.2GHz MT6589M processor coupled with Imagination PowerVR SGX 544 GPU.
Benchmark Scores
- Quadrant Benchmark : 4023.
- Antutu Benchmark : 13351.
- Vellmo Benchmark : HTML5 – 1399, Metal – 493.
- Nenamark2 : 46.9fps.
- Multi Touch : 5 point.
Gaming: I could play the Nova 3 game with ease, no issues and a very mild lag (occasionally) probably cause of less RAM.
Entertainment: Tried playing 1080p with MX player. It worked only in S/W mode. 720p videos worked without any issues. The sound is loud and clear, in call sound is also good.
Camera: The rear camera is 5MP AF with flash and front camera is of VGA resolution. Camera quality and video recording looks good. You can check the sample images at the end of this review. The rear camera can record videos in 720p resolution.
Connectivity: 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS worked without issues. I got a lock on the GPS within 30 seconds. Check the video review.
Battery: The handset with 2000 mAh battery gave a good backup time of over 1 day (2 days in my case with (minimum to moderate usage).
Conclusion: It’s the same old hardware with a new design. I still feel the Xolo Q700 is a better option than this one. The Xolo Q600 on some online stores is priced at Rs. 8,500 which I believe is not a good price because for some 500 Rs. extra you can get a Q700 with qHD and 1GB RAM. On Amazon the Q600 is available for Rs. 7,999.
