Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 3 in the Indian markets, yesterday for ₹9,999 with 2GBRAM/16GB storage and ₹11,999 for 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Lets have a quick look at the handset to get a better idea about the quality and features.

This handset will go on sale on Amazon and Mi.com, users can register on either Mi or Amazon, later on Note 3 will be made available on Snapdeal, Flipkart and from offline partners.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is using Snapdragon 650 1.8GHz hexa  core processor that makes use of 2x cortex A72 cores and 4x cortex A53 cores. SD 650 comes with Adreno 510 GPU. At the event Hugo Barra (VP Xiaomi) unveiled the Antutu scores of 77,592, that itself is pretty impressive.

Note 3 is packed inside a metal body, available in 3 different color options. This smartphones sports a 5.5 inch sunlight IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The Redmi Note Specification sheet does not mentioned anything about the screen protection – it may be scratch resistant to a small extent but better to use a screen guard.

Handset weight with battery is 164 grams and thickness is 8.65mm. This is a dual SIM handset with a micro and a hybrid slot – you can use a nano SIM or a micro SD card up to 32GB.

MIUI 7 runs the show. There are two variants with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

A 16MP fast AF camera is packed on the rear with dual tone LED flash. With PDAF (phase detection auto focus) you can get a focus lock in just about 0.1 seconds. Front camera is of 5MP resolution.

There is touch ID based finger print sensor placed on the rear perfectly aligned with rear camera. You can unlock the phone in just about 0.3 seconds using finger print security.

Additional features are 4G LTE – now this handset supports all the LTE bands that are active in India and also future ready. It does support VoLTE. There is WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, LED notification and Infrared (you can use handset as remote to control TV/AC etc).

A 4050 mAh battery powers up this handset. It’s a high density battery that helps reduce the handset overall weight and thickness. Supports 5V 2A quick charge – charges up to 50% in one hour.

I don’t have the Redmi Note 3, yet, but will be buying the same soon, when available. I did get to experience the Note 3 at the event.
