Okay so the ₹ 5,999 teaser indeed was the new price tag of the Redmi 2. Xiaomi had launched this handset in India with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 and now the price has been reduced by ₹ 1000. The handset can be purchased for ₹ 5,999 from Mi.com, Snapdeal, Amazon and Flipkart plus from offline stores Airtel and The Mobile Store.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 is also available with exchange offer on Flipkart for ₹ 3,999, though I could not see any option to exchange the Redmi 1S. Redmi 2 is available in white and grey color options.
It is the same Redmi 2 powered by 64 bit snapdragon 410 quad core processor running MIUI with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage along with 32GB micro SD card support. Screen is 4.7 inches supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.
This is a dual SIM handset with 4G support and also comes packed with an 8MP AF camera placed on the rear and a 2MP camera on the front. The 2200 mAh battery that handset houses comes with quick charge 1.0 support.
From today Redmi 2 will be available for ₹ 5,999.
