Xiaomi at an event in China has announced their new flagship smartphone the Mi 8. This handset was named in honor of 8th Anniversary. Xiaomi Mi 8 is powered by Snapdragon 845 octa core processor and features a 6.21 inch full screen display.

As mentioned the Mi 8 is using Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa core processor and claims to get highest AnTuTu score 301,472. Screen is 6.21 inches, using Samsung AMOLED notch display, supports always on, screen resolution is 2248 x 1080 i.e. FHD+ and aspect ratio is 18.7:9.

On the camera part there is 12MP + 12MP dual cameras on the back with dual pixel autofocus, AI portraits, AI scene detection and video edition options. This camera is also packed with 4 axis OIS. Mi 8 as per the company got 105 DXOMARK score, more than iPhone X. There is also AI enhanced portrait photography (Studio Lighting).

On the front there is 20MP camera with infrared face unlock, AI portrait selfies, and AI beauty mode. This handset the Mi 8 is running MIUI 10 out of the box, Mi 8 is also using dual frequency GPS.  This dual frequency GPS increases accuracy, by eliminating interference’s from buildings / reduces signal delays.

Mi 8 announced

There is one more variant the Mi 8 Explorer edition and this one comes with in-display finger print sensor, well only on the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The in-display finger print sensor is similar to as seen on the Vivo X21 smartphone that was launched recently in India. The Mi 8 Explorer edition also supports 3D face recognition and comes with transparent back.

There is also a smaller phone called the Mi 8 SE and its tailor made, well it is also the first to use Snapdragon 710 chipset. This handset features a 5.88 inch AMOLED full screen, packed with 20MP front camera and 12MP + 5MP dual cameras on the rear and of course with AI technology.

Xiaomi also announced Mi TV 4 75″ 4K HDR, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, quad core powered, integrated voice assistant.

Mi VR Standalone also announced – this one comes with 2600 mAh battery, made in collaboration with VR Company Oculus, it is using Snapdragon 821 processor, 2K fast switch screen and optimized for 1000 oculus games.

And then the Mi Band 3, yes the latest Mi Band has been announced in China, called the Mi Band 3. This one allows you to view and receive calls, got bigger screen (0.78″ OLED) and best part is you can answer calls.
