Here is the review of WickedLeak’s Wammy Desire 3. It is a 7 inch quad core powered tablet with dual SIM support. 3G and voice calling are supported. This tablet is priced at Rs. 5,990.

Inside the box
The box contents are Desire 3 tablet, some coupons, user guide, travel charger, data cable and OTG cable. Earphone is not included.

Design and Display
The tablet looks really good in white and silver combination. The body is plastic that includes the front panel, side and some part on the back. The back side has silver metallic finish that gives a very premium look to this device.

A small part on the top can be opened to unveil the dual SIM slots (overlapping normal SIM’s) and the micro SD card slot. Build quality is good, it could have been better. The tab is curvy. If I press mildly on the right top screen I felt the screen pushing down, I could also see minor gaps there. Power button and volume rockers are on the left and micro USB plus 3.5mm audio jack are on the top.

Screen is 7 inches supporting 1024 x 600 pixels resolution. There are no dedicated navigation buttons and some part is used by the on screen buttons. Touch is smooth but the viewing angels are not at all good. Moreover the screen reflects a lot and that spoils the viewing experience.

There are just 2 sensors accelerometer and proximity.

There is 1GB RAM and 8GB storage with 32GB micro SD card support. About 1GB (898MB free) is allocated for apps and internal phone store (called USB storage) is 4.62GB. Free RAM on the first boot is 672MB. You cannot install apps on external storage and OTG is supported.

Performance
It is using MediaTek MT8382 quad core chipset @ 1.3GHz coupled with Mali 400 MP GPU. Did not find any issues as such, performance is good, lag free.

Quadrant 6671
Antutu 16386
Vellamo Metal (531) Multi core (1068) Browser (987)

Gaming
I downloaded Asphalt 8, it got installed on the internal storage. Game Play was smooth in the highest visual quality.

Camera and Entertainment
The hardware can play 1080p videos. There is 2MP rear fixed focus camera and VGA front camera. Camera quality is below average. Check the sample images / videos at the end.

Others
You can use the tab for making and receiving calls. There is in-call speaker, sound is low, will not audible in noisy environment. No issues with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. Speaker sound is good but a little low.

Battery
The Wammy Desire 3 comes packed with 2800 mAh non-removable battery.

Task Time Battery drop (%) (max temp)
Running Benchmark apps 34 minutes 10% (?)
FHD video playback (loop) with Wi-Fi on + full brightness 27 minutes 9% (?)
Asphalt 8 GamePlay 14 minutes 7% (?)

The temp always showed 25% – seems some error reporting, however the tablet did not get too hot, it was warm acceptable.

Verdict
It is quad core with very good performance, good RAM and decent storage space. Apps get installed on internal storage. OTG is supported. Camera quality is not that good. The viewing angle on the other hand spoils the fun.
