The Wammy Desire 2 is an upgraded version of the Desire tablet series and comes powered by Exynos 4412 Quad Core processor with Mali 400 GPU. The IPS screen is 7 inches with HD resolution. This tablet is priced at Rs. 9,999.

Desire 2 Box pack
The contents – Desire 2 tablet, a screen guard, OTG cable, data cable and power adapter. There is no earphone included. The tab is 10.9mm thick and weight is 298 grams.

Design and Display
On the first look the tablet appears like a big phone. It has all the features (look wise) that you would find on a smartphone. There is single dedicated physical button on the front side. All the ports (HDMI, 3.5mm jack, micro USB, TF card and DC in) are placed on one side and the power / volume rockers are placed on the other side. The tablet as mentioned has got a very good look (like a big phone) and the finishing/ built quality is also very good.

The 7 inch IPS screen supports resolution of 1280×800 pixels and some part of the pixel (so in all you get 1280x752p) is used for on screen dedicated buttons (as there is only one physical button). The screen quality and viewing angle is really good. By default the fonts were set to small size but were easily viewable. It’s a perfect tablet in case you love reading e-books.

Memory, Storage and OS
Of the 8GB storage 1GB is assigned of apps of which 734MB is available and 5.28GB is the internal storage with 5.26GB free space available. Of the 1GB RAM you get around 600 MB free.

As for the OS you can choose from Android 4.0 or the latest Android 4.2.2. It is better to go with the Android 4.0 version if the 4.2 Jelly Bean is still in the beta phase.  For the review I have used the 4.2.2 version.

Performance and Benchmark
The tablet is powered by Samsung Exynos 4412 Quad Core processor with Mali 400 GPU. There is no doubt that the performance will be at par as good as on devices with the same hardware. Check out the benchmark scores.

Benchmark scores

  • Quadrant Benchmark : 4228.
  • Anututu Benchmark : 12506.
  • Nenamark2 : 68.7fps.
  • Linpack : single 57, multi 168.
  • Multi Touch : 5 point.

Camera
There is 2MP rear camera with LED flash and a font camera of VGA resolution. The camera quality is not that good and is also not able to capture the frame properly. Probably some issue with Android 4.2.2 OS.

Gaming
The hardware is powerful and the FPS is pretty impressive. It can easily run many HD games with ease. You can check out the game play video at the end of this review. Nova 3 and MC3 will also work. However I did not download those games as it would have taken a lot of time (over 2GB).

Others features and Battery
There is Wi-Fi, built in Bluetooth and even GPS. There is no built in 3G but you can always use an external 3G dongle. The 3300 mAh battery gives usage time of up to 3 hours.

Wammy Desire 2 review
The screen quality is very good, excellent for reading e-books. The hardware is powerful and a delight for gaming users. You cannot move apps on the external storage (Android 4.2.2). But 8GB space is good enough for many users. The camera is no good; probably Wickedleak might come up with an update/fix and make it a little better. But overall it is a very good buy for the price.

Samsung tab 2 with Wi-Fi is now selling for Rs. 8,999 but that is with dual core processor.  Wammy Desire 2 is still a better option.
