VeeDee D13 is powered by Cortex A8 Boxchip A13 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Mali 400 GPU. The D13 is priced at Rs. 4,990 and has got an impressive benchmark score.

Yet another low cost tablet released by veedeedirect.com, the VeeDee D13 which will compete with other tablets, price & performance wise. There are many tables between the price ranges of Rs. 4K to Rs. 6K, but the D13 is not only cheaper but also performs better than almost all the other tablets in the same price bracket. Box Pack

The VeeDee D13 box pack contains the D13 tablet, user manual, the power adapter for charging and USB to micro USB cable. Now on other tablets we usually find the mini USB port but on this tablet it’s the Micro USB port, similar to what we find on almost all handsets today.

VeeDee D13 Design

When you hold the tablet it gives you a completely different feel, good built, seems tough and light weight, you will experience this only if you have used or had an hands on experience on multiple tablets. This is because of the slim design. Though it is still a 7 inch tablet it is a bit smaller as compared with other tablets. The display screen is perfectly in the center unlike on most tablets where you find extra space on the right side which is also shared by dedicated buttons.

All the buttons, ports and charging point are placed on the right side. There are no buttons on the other 3 sides or on the front screen. The power buttons and the volume rockers have found a place on the right side. It’s a smart design. This tab is using the A13 processor that does not supported HDMI port and hence that is missing. There is a front VGA camera like on all tablets which works well with Skype. The Micro USB cable end is ‘L’ shaped which obstructs the 3.5mm jack, in case you want to watch movies via pendrive and also use the earphone.

Hardware

As mentioned this tab comes with a different processor the boxchip A13 (cortex A8) clocked at 1.5GHz but the quadrant benchmarking tools shows it as 1.2GHz. Add to it the popular Mali 400 GPU which will keep the gaming users happy.

Specification wise other features are identical which include 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and micro SD card support. There is the G-Sensor for 3G gaming, 3.5mm Audio port, Wi-Fi, USB, full HD support and external 3G support. This tab is a little more powerful than the other tabs in the same category.  There is also built in Speaker (1W).

Software

The VeeDee D13 runs on Android 4.0 OS with Google play support. There are quite a few pre-loaded apps and you can always download more via play. MSN, Skype, Office documents and many other apps are supported. Multi format media player can play MP3, WMA, WAV, AVI and many other formats.

Performance – VeeDee D13 Review

I ran the Quadrant Benchmark test which gave it a score of 2394 which I am sure most of you would agree is just too good. AnTuTu Benchmark tool gave it a score of 2670. I did not find any issues with the tablet, performance is smooth and touch is sensitivity, as good as on other tabs. There is one thing I noticed and that was that the tablet did not heat-up as much as it did with other tabs.

Battery

VeeDee has not mentioned the battery mAh on VeeDee D13, in fact from now on they will not mention the capacity instead give more emphasis on usage time. Ultimately it is the usage time that is important no matter how the tab achieves it.

It took about three to three and a half hours to fully charge the battery. You can expect usage time anywhere from 3 to 5 hours. I am still testing the battery, playing a movie in a loop and from the results so far I think you can easily watch movies up to 4+ hours.

Others

No issues with the sound, its loud enough similar standards as compared with other tabs. The image rendering is good and smooth. There is a brief rendering lag when you zoom in on a web page – as seen on other tabs.

Games

I played Amazing Alex, Angry Birds Space, Shadow Gun and ASP6 all worked perfectly well and it was a delightful gaming experience.
