Swipe Elite Sense review – good but does not match with Redmi 3S/Prime

The Swipe Elite Sense is a quad core powered 4G VoLTE handset that was launched in India for Rs. 6,999. This handset sports a 5 inch screen with HD resolution and there is a 2500 mAh non-removable battery. It this worth it, read the review.

Inside the Swipe Elite Sense box you will get the handset, warranty card, user manual, data cable and travel charger 5V/1A. This handset is available on Flipkart for Rs. 7,499.

Design, Display and OS

The Elite Sense looks cool, the back has got a metallic finishing, with glossy layer – this looks really great. However though the handset has got a metallic finishing the body is made of plastic. Build and finishing is very good.

This is  a dual SIM handset using hybrid slot, you can use nano SIM + micro SIM or micro SD card + micro SIM. 4G with VoLTE is supported. There is LED notification and following sensor – accelerometer, proximity and light. Gyro and Magnetic sensor are missing.

Swipe Elite Sense sports a 5 inch IPS screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. The overall screen quality is okay but not as great as seen on the Redmi handsets. If you compare Redmi phone screen with Elite Sense, you will find that the Redmi smartphone screen is better.

Android Marshmallow runs out of the box.

Memory and Storage

There is 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM and micro SD support. On a average you will get around 1.4GB free RAM and 22GB free ROM. OTG did not work, I was not able to access the contents on a micro SD card.

Performance

Inside the hood there is qualcomm snapdragon 425 64 bit quad core processor clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. Performance was good, I did not find any issues as such, even gaming performance was good.

Benchmark

Quadrant : 17220
AnTuTu : 36463 / 2556
Nenamark 2 : 59.7fps
Disk Speed : 165 MB/s read / 83 MB/s write
Multi Touch : 5 point

Gaming

I played bullet force and asphalt 8. Both games were playable in high quality mode. However there was a very mild lag, but the game was playable – check video review.

Camera

The Swipe Elite Sense comes with 13MP rear camera with flash support and front camera is 8MP. Camera quality is average. The handset can shoot 1080p videos.

Others

Sound was loud and clear. I used the Reliance Jio SIM, there was not issue using network. This handset also comes with finger print sensor on the back, that was also fast and accurate.

Battery

As mentioned the Elite Sense comes with 2500 mAh non-removable battery. On a full charge you will get 3 to 6 hours of non-stop moderate to heavy usage. With mixed usage you will get around 1 day of (moderate) usage.

Swipe Elite Sense Battery Performance (time / battery % drop / estimated battery temperature)

  • Running Benchmark app – 19 minutes / 5% / NA degree
  • Asphalt 8 + Bullet Force game play – 20 minutes / 9% / NA degree
  • FHD video playback with full brightness (WiFi /4G on) – 68 minutes / 20% / NA degrees.

There was some issue with battery temperature reading on all apps. The handset heated up just like other handsets, I guess the temperature when playing games for 20 minutes was around 40 degrees.

It took me 2 hours 34 minutes to charge the handset from 26% to 100% using wall charger.  For full charge an estimated 3 hours.

Verdict

The Swipe Elite Sense though is a good handset, it really does not compete with Xiaomi Redmi 3s and the Redmi 3s Prime. In screen, camera, performance and battery department the 3s/3s Prime is much better option. Try getting the 3s/3s prime if you need a phone urgently you can consider the Elite Sense, otherwise makes no sense.
