Spice Mobiles have launched the Spice M-5885 for budget conscious consumers who are looking for affordable handsets with unique features. The M-5885 sports a 2.8 inch full touchscreen display with 3D UI and is social networking ready.
To keep the cost at the minimal Spice Mobiles have tweaked the hardware and trimmed down some of the features that are not so important. To start with this handset comes with a 312 MHz processing power; it is too low but does the job well.
The full touchscreen display comes with capacitive technology which indeed is a plus point. Display resolution however is limited to 320 by 240 pixels with 65K colours. Users can watch MP4 and 3GP videos as well as listen to their favourite MP3 audio. Users can also tune in to their favourite FM station using the built in FM radio.
Social networking is supported with pre-loaded apps like Yahoo, Facebook, Nimbuzz and for browsing there is the popular Opera Mobile 10 Browser. This is a 2G phone and for internet access you will have to do with the GPRS service.
The Spice M-5885 also comes loaded with features like 1.3 MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP and USB 2.0. The handset is light weight – less than 100 grams (95.5 grams) with 13 mm thickness.
The battery life is pretty good, the 1000 mAh Li-ion battery gets the phone going for almost 12 days in standby mode and a decent talktime of up to 6 hours. Spice M-5885 is available in Brown and white colours, the price is unknown but expected to be under Rs. 4,000.
