The Sony Xperia Z2 was recently announced at the MWC 2014. It is IP58 & IP55 certified water resistant and dust proof handset running on the Android KitKat OS. This handset is expected to hit the stores in March / April 2014.
Sony claims that the Xperia Z2 not only can survive being under water (1 meter) for almost 30 minutes but it also houses the world’s best camera & camcorder. The IPS LCD screen is 5.2 inches with 10 point multi touch and supporting 1920 x 1080 pixels. The Triluminos display is scratch resistant and shatter proof. Handset is 8.2mm thick.
Sony Xperia Z2 runs on Android 4.4.2 with 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. Yes micro SD card slot is also present that can add additional space of up to 64GB. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB quad core processor @ 2.3GHz with Adreno 330 GPU.
The Z2 comes with a 2.2 MP front camera with 1080p video recording and rear AF camera of 20.7MP resolution. The rear camera can record 2160p videos at 30fps. Additional features are 4G, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac), GPS with GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.
The 3200 mAh Li-ion battery (non-removable) gives a talk-time of up to 19 hours and audio playback time of up to 120 hours. No word about the pricing.
