Sony has announced the water proof Sony Xperia Z1S and the Xperia Z1 compact at CES 2014. The Z1S is with improved water resistant capabilities – the handset can be kept submerged for a much longer time as compared with other Xperia water proof smartphones.
Sony Xperia Z1S
This handset runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS on a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 quad core processor (MSM8974) with Adreno 330 GPU. The Triluminous screen is 5 inches supporting 1920x1080p resolution with 10 point multi touch. The Xperia Z1S will also come with a 20.7 MP auto focus camera and 2MP front camera. Both the rear and front cameras can record full HD videos.
There is onboard 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. Other features are 4G, 3G, 2G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac), NFC and GPS with GLONASS / A-GPS. The non removable battery of 3000 mAh capacity gives talk-time of up to 15 hours.
No word about the Xperia Z1S price in India or the release date (probably will never be released in India).
Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
This compact version also runs on the Android 4.3 OS – entitled for KitKat update. It sports a 4.3 inch screen with 1280×720 pixels resolution. There is 2GB RAM and 16GB storage with micro SD support of up to 64GB.
Xperia Z1 Compact is powered by 2.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset with Adreno 330 GPU. Also included is a 20.7MP rear AF camera and 2MP front camera. Full HD video recording is supported.
Key features are 4G, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and Bluetooth. This one too comes with a non removable battery of 2300 mAh capacity that gives 10 hours talk time on 2G and 18 hours on 3G networks.
Xperia Z1 Compact price and availability dates in India are not yet known.
