Sony Xperia Sola is powered by a dual core processor and runs on android 2.3 OS which can be further upgraded to android 4.0. Xperia Sola is also the first of its kind to come with a new feature called floating touch UI.

The Sola a.k.a MT27i Pepper is available in Red, Black and white colours. The Xperia handset has got a slim look with 3 touch sensitive button on the front panel. The main highlight is the floating touch user interface that works with the browser. For navigation a user can move the finger over the screen (hovering) without actually touching it.

The Xperia Sola is powered by a ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 Dual Core Processor clocked at 1 GHz. The OS that comes loaded is relatively older (Android 2.3), however Sony has promised an upgrade to android 4.0 soon.

The capacitive touchscreen display (scratch resistance) is 3.7 inches supporting 854 by 480 pixels resolution with 16M colours. This handset comes with 512 MB RAM and internal storage of 8 GB of which 5 GB is available for user.

The Sony Xperia Sola supports W-CDMA, GPRS and EDGE networks. Other connectivity options available are Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, GPS and USB 2.0. For entertainment you can use the default media player for playing MP3, MP4, Ogg Vorbis, 3GPP, WAV, SMF and OTA audio / video formats. There is also a built in FM radio for live music with recording option.

The Sola comes with a good 5 MP camera with features like LED flash, auto focus, smile / face detection, geo tagging, self timer and panorama mode. The camera can record videos in HD mode (720p) with video light.

The 1320 mAh battery keeps the Sony handset running in standby mode for up to 19 days and provides a talktime of up to 5 hours on a 3G network.

Sony Xperia Sola price in India is Rs. 19,999. Pre-Orders have already started and the handset will be available from May 18th onwards.
