Sony recently unveiled the Xperia M2 Aqua – as the name suggest the Aqua is a waterproof smartphone. Well most of the recently launched Sony handsets are water proof but what makes the M2 Aqua different is the price tag. Though the price has not yet been revealed, Sony did mention that it is a mid-range smartphone.

Sony Xperia M2 Aqua is water and dust proof IP65 / IP68 certified, it can survive underwater up to a depth of 1.5 meter for about 30 minutes. This is a single SIM handset with LTE 4G support. Weight is 149 grams and thickness is 8.6mm.

The M2 Aqua comes with a 4.8 inch screen with 4 point multi touch supporting resolution of 960x 540 pixels. Screen is LCD IPS and comes with a scratch resistant glass. Android KitKat 4.4.2 runs the show with 1GB RAM, 8GB storage and 32GB external card support.

There is 8MP camera on the rear with LED flash. Rear camera is auto focus and can record videos in FHD resolution. The front camera is of VGA resolution and can shoot 480p videos. M2 Aqua is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 quad core processor with Adreno 305 GPU.

Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS / GLONASS, FM radio and Wi-Fi. The non-removable Li-ion battery of 2300 mAh gives talk-time of up to 12 hours on 3G networks.
