Samsung unveiled 3 new handsets, Samsung Wave Y, Samsung Wave 3 and Samsung Wave M that will be launched in India, next month. After launching series of handsets running on the Android operating system, Samsung is now turning its focus on the Bada 2.0 OS. The 3 Samsung smartphones mentioned will be powered by the Bada OS.

Samsung mobiles believes that their proprietary Bada 2.0 OS is ready to compete with other mobile operating system and already has about 40k apps ready to be downloaded from the Bada Store.  According to Samsung many consumers are really not keen about the operating system for most the price and features is what matters. By using its own proprietary OS Samsung will be able to reduce cost (earn money from Bada Stores) and explore new hardware possibilities.

Here are the details of the 3 Samsung Wave smartphones that will be available in the Indian market probably next month.

Samsung Wave 3 Features

This handset will feature the Bada 2.0 OS and will come powered by the 1.4 GHz processor. The Samsung Wave 3 is a 3G phone with a 4 inch Super AMOLED 480 by 800 (WVGA) pixels resolution display.

The Wave 3 comes with a primary 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and AF function. The secondary VGA camera can be used for video calling or chatting. This handset comes with built in FM Radio with RDS and a 3.5 mm audio jack for connecting headphones.

Other features are 4GB internal memory with microSD card supported up to 32 GB, Bluetooth 3.0, UBS, Wi-FI with Wi-Fi direct, accelerometer / compass / light / proximity sensors and GPS (A-GPS supported).

The Samsung Wave 3 weighs 122 grams with dimension 125.9 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm. The 1500 mAh battery can keep the phone running on standby mode for about 517 hours and up to 8.8 hours in talktime when using the 3G network.

Samsung Wave M Features

This is a 3G phone powered by an 832 MHz processor and running the new Bada 2.0 OS. The TFT LCD screen size is 3.6 inches with 320 x 480 HVGA resolutions.  The Samsung Wave M too comes with a front facing VGA camera and a rear 5 MP camera with LED flash and AF features. This handset can record HVGA videos at 30 fps.

The Wave M comes with 150 MB of memory with microSD up to 32 GB supported and 2GB internal storage memory. Other features are built in FM radio (RDS), 3.5 mm audio jack, Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi-direct, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0, Built in GPS and Proximity / Accelerometer sensors.

The 1350 mAh battery that this Samsung smartphone houses provides a talktime of about 6.6 hours and up to 482 hours of standby time on a 3G network.

Samsung Wave Y Features

The Wave Y is powered by an 832 MHz processor running the Bada 2.0 OS with a 3.2 inch TFT LCD screen of HVGA 320 by 480 resolutions. This handset will be the cheapest of the three and it will make sense once you look at the specifications.

There is just once front facing camera of resolution 2 megapixels with LED flash. Other features are 3G, A-GPS, Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi direct, USB 2, Bluetooth 3.0 and Proximity / Accelerometer sensors.

This handset comes with 150MB of internal memory with 2GB internal storage memory. MicroSD card up to 32GB can be used. The Samsung Wave Y weighs 102.4 grams with 110 x 58.2 x 12.3 mm dimension.

This handset comes with a 1200 mAh battery with estimated standby time of about 390 hours and 4.6 hours talktime on 3G networks
