The Samsung Wave 3 powered by Samsung’s own Bada 2.0 OS was finally released today. This handset has some decent features, a new OS and a price tag well within Rs. 20,000. The Samsung Wave 3 comes with a new feature called Wi-Fi direct. If you have used a Wi-Fi enabled phone before you may be aware that you need to use a Wi-Fi network. However with Wi-Fi direct technology there is no need for a Wi-Fi network in fact two devices can connect with each other directly, hence the name Wi-Fi direct. This is an interesting feature imagine being able to connect with another Wi-Fi enabled phone and able to transfer or receive files.

The handset looks cool as you can see in the image below. This smartphone comes with a powerful processor running at 1.4 GHz with 4GB internal memory and microSD supported up to 32 GB. The Wave 3 is light weight at 122 grams with great figure of 125.9 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm.
The touch screen size is 4 inches with 480 x 800 pixel resolution along with Super AMOLED technology that is the second best next to the Apple iPhone. This is a 3G phone with HSPA 14.4 / 5.76 Mbps supported and in the absence of 3G it will use the EDGE or the GPRS network.
There are two cameras on the Samsung Wave 3. There is primary rear facing camera of 5 megapixels with LED flash and a decent front facing VGA camera for making video calls. Videos can be recorded in HD mode at 30 fps with 720p resolution.
The Wave 3 can play MP3, AAC+, AAC, eAAC+, WAV, MID, AMR, WMA, DivX, MPEG4, H.263 andH.26 formats. This smartphone comes with preloaded apps with an option to access the Samsung Apps store for more.
The Samsung Wave 3 is social networking ready and why not almost everyone today is on Facebook. Other features are Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi Direct , sensors (Light, Compass, Proximity and Accelerometer), FM Radio, 3.5 mm jack, TouchWiz for Bada OS and Samsung Kies 2.0 / Air.
Samsung Wave 3 houses a 1500 mAh battery with talktime of 8.8 hours and standby time of 517 hours (21 days) on 3G networks.
