Samsung Mobiles have announced the range of Gear S2 smartwatches, called the Samsung Gear S2 Classic, Samsung Gear S2 3G and the Samsung Gear S2. Going by the name one can easily guess that the Gear S2 will be the cheapest, the S2 3G will come with 3G support and the S2 Classic may be a bit pricey.

The Gear S2, S2 3G and the S2 Classic version all come with near about the same specifications with minor charges in the specs. Gear S2 and S2 Classic are using dual core processor clocked at 1GHz, whereas the Gear S2 3G, since it supports 3G (the S2 / S2 Classic does not support 3G) is using a different dual core processor also clocked at 1GHz.

All of these S2 wearable sport a 1.2 inch screen (circular dial) sporting 360 x 360 pixels resolution. It is running Tizen based wearable platform with Samsung Gear Apps support. The watch also comes loaded with 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage. These watches are dust / water resistant (IP68 certified).

There are light, accelerometer, barometer, heart rate and Gyro sensors. Common features are Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth. The S2 3G however comes with extra features like 3G/2G and voice calling. When it comes to the battery (with wireless charging) the S2 and the S2 classic gets power from a 250 mAh battery and the S2 3G houses a 300 mAh battery.

These smartwatches will be unveiled at IFA, no word about the price yet.
