At MWC 2018 Samsung unpacked their new Galaxy S series handset the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Samsung Galaxy S9+. Unique thing about the S9 is the advanced rear camera with f/1.5 ~ f/2.4 variable aperture for night shots / day shots.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with single camera setup whereas the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is using dual camera setup. Inside the hood the S9 is powered by Snapdragon 845 processor / Samsung Exynos 9 Series 9810.

Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9+ specifications

The S9 / S9+ will come in single / dual hybrid SIM slot options. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with Adreno 630 GPU, however in India, like always, the S9 / S9+ will be Samsung Exynos 9 9810 octa core powered with Mali G72MP18 GPU.

The S9 features a 5.8 inch super AMOLED Infinity screen with 2960 x 1440 pixels resolution also protected with Corning Gorilla glass 5. On the S9+ you will get a bigger 6.2 inch screen with same display features as on the S9.

Samsung Galaxy S9 will be packed with 4GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB storage options, plus micro SD card support. On the S9+ it will be 6GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB storage. Android Oreo runs out of the box.

Samsung Galaxy S9

Galaxy S9 / S9+ is water and dust resistant IP68 certified, supports Dolby ATMOS and comes with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. As for the sensors since this is a premium handset you can expect lot of sensors, including the common ones.

The S9 is loaded with 12MP dual pixel rear camera with f/1.5 ~ f/2.4 variable aperture, supports Slo-Mo, comes with LED flash support. On the S9+ there is 12MP (f/1.5 ~ f/2.4) variable aperture + 12MP secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture. S9+ can shoot 960 fps super slo-mo videos. Front camera is a 8MP shooter also Auto Focus with f/1.7 aperture.

Other features are 4G, VoLTE, GPS, Dual band Wi-Fi, NFC, MST, Bluetooth 5. On the Galaxy S9 there is a 3000 mAh non-removable battery whereas on the S9+ there is a 3500 mAh non-removable battery. Both the handsets support fast charging / wireless fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy S9 is priced at $719 (approx Rs. 46K) and S9+ is priced at $839 (approx Rs. 54K).
