The most awaited Samsung Galaxy S5 is finally here. This handset was unveiled at MWC 2014. The Galaxy S5 is powered by quad core processor, comes with fingerprint scanner, built in heart monitor and is water resistant too (IP67 certified).
Just like as seen on the iPhone 5S the Galaxy S5 also comes with biometric screen locking feature (the finger scanner). Add to it the S Health 3.0 tool that will help users stay fit (compatible with Samsung Gear Fit). The S Health monitors user behavior that includes their diet, (calories burned) pedometer, exercise records and can even monitor the heart rate.
On the hardware front the S5 sports a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection running the latest Android 4.4 KitKat + TouchWiz UI with 2GB RAM and 16/32GB storage. MicroSD card up to 128GB is supported. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels. Depending on the region the handset will either house a 2.5GHz quad core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801?, 800? or 805? ) or Octa core Exynos processor. Indian consumers might get the Snapdragon 805 version with 4K video recording capabilities.
The S5 (with Nano-SIM) will come with a 16MP rear camera with hybrid AF technology and LED flash support plus a front camera of 2MP resolution. The camera comes loaded with exciting features like selective focus, HDR etc to name a few. Other features are 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC, infrared, GPS (A-GPS/GLONASS), wireless charging (selected markets) and Bluetooth 4.0.
S5 weight is about 145 grams and thickness is 8.1 mm. The Li-ion battery of 2800 mAh capacity gives talk-time of up to 21 hours. The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be made available in April / May but the pricing details has not yet been revealed.
