Performance

The handset performed well, did not heat-up, max battery temperature was 33 degrees. For normal usage this is good but when it comes to gaming the handset lagged. Modern combat 5 game clearly lagged and so did Asphalt 8 in high visual quality mode. Asphalt 8 game played well in medium and was much better in low visual quality mode.

Samsung Galaxy On8 review 13MP camera with f/1.9 aperture
The rear 13MP camera is with an f/1.9 aperture and front camera is 5MP shooter. Camera quality is above average. I have attached some sample images below. Rear camera can shoot 1080p videos – the video quality is also great (check video review).

Battery

The removable 3300 mAh battery does an impressive job. You can expect 7 to 10 hours of non-stop moderate to heavy usage on a single charge.

Samsung Galaxy On8 Battery Performance (time / battery % drop / estimated battery temperature)

  • Running Benchmark app – 10 minutes / 2% / 32 degrees
  • Asphalt 8 + MC5 game play – 31 minutes / 5% / 32 degrees
  • FHD video playback with full brightness (WiFi /4G on) – 21 minutes / 5% / 33 degrees.

It took me 2 hours 30 minutes to charge the handset from 1% to 100% using wall charger.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy On8 is a powerful handset but not for gaming purpose. Key highlight is 4G VoLTE – you can use your Jio SIM, above average camera and impressive battery life.

If you are looking for brand and not into gaming then the Galaxy On8 is a good option, however for Rs. 15,900 the handset is still pricey.

Overall Rating 3.5 out of 5

Samsung Galaxy On8 is available for Rs. 14,900.
