The Galaxy Chat B5330 a QWERTY smartphone with ICS topping was unveiled in July 2012 and is now available on Saholic.com for Rs. 8,499. The B5330 is a QWERTY candy bar smartphone running on Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) OS.

B5330 Design
Even with a QWERTY keyboard, this candy bar phone shows off an 3.0 inch capacitive touch screen. Overall the screen takes almost 75% of the front space, including the 3 dedicated touch sensitive buttons, and the rest is assigned for the keyboard.

The handset has got curvy edges and on the rear side there is the 2MP camera with speaker out along with the Samsung logo. The power button is located on the right side and volume rockers on the left. The weight is 112 grams and dimensions are 118.9 x 59.3 x 11.7mm.

Processor, Memory and OS
The Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330 is powered by an 850MHz CPU and possibly with an Adreno 200 or Broadcom OPENGL GPU.  This one is loaded with Android 4.0 OS with TouchWiz UX UI; in fact there are very few QWERTY phones that run on ICS, so this is good news for QWERTY lovers. The RAM details are not confirmed but it should come with 512MB RAM as it runs on ICS. Saholic.com website does mention 512MB RAM. There is 4GB of internal storage space.

Display and Connectivity on Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330
The 3 inch screen  is of a good size; however the resolution is a bit disappointing. It is 320×240 pixels with 133 ppi pixel density. This is the resolution found on very low cost phones like the Micromax A50.

For net access there is 3G connectivity – 7.2Mbps (HSDPA) / 5.76 Mbps (HSUPA), EDGE / GPRS, Wi-Fi with hotspots, micro USB (tethering), FM radio, GPS and Bluetooth 3.0. These are the standard specs that most handsets come loaded with.

Camera
Camera on the Samsung Chat B5330 is another big disappointment. Its 2 MP fixed focus rear facing without flash. At the most you can click images in 1600×1200 pixels resolution, which is really not so good. Disappointed? Well there is more – on the B5330 there is no front camera either.

Other features
It does support many video and audio formats, also comes with video / image editor, SNS apps pre-installed, Google services, Document viewer and access to Google play.

Battery
A standard 1200 mAh battery is more than sufficient for this handset which will last for about 21 days on 2G and 15 days on 3G in Standby mode and you can expect a talktime of about 14 hours on 2G and up to 5 hours on 3G networks.

Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330 review
The main advantage is the QWERTY keyboard with ChatON dedicated key and the ICS or Android 4.0 OS. But the screen and the camera resolution is a big setback and not to forget the missing front camera. Everything else looks good. But users who are comfortable using the QWERTY keyboard will not mind.
