Samsung has announced another premium handset the Galaxy Alpha that comes packed in a metal frame and with artificial leather on the back. As per the company the metal frame is compact, sophisticated and does not really add weight –weight is just 115 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha price has not been disclosed but it could be within the Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 45,000 range. This is a single SIM handset with LTE (4G) support and pretty slim – 6.7mm thick. The super AMOLED screen is 4.7 inches supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution (320 ppi).
The handset houses a 1.8GHz octa core Exynos 5 – 5430 chipset (quad core 1.8GHz – Cortex A15 + quad core 1.3GHz – Cortex A7) coupled with Mali T628 MP6 GPU. It runs Android 4.4.4 out of the box with TouchWiz UI.
There is no external card support, however there is a good 32GB of internal storage and 2GB RAM. The Galaxy Alpha also comes packed with 2.1MP secondary camera and 12MP primary auto focus camera with LED flash. It can shoot videos in 2160 pixels resolution at 30fps.
Key features are 4G, 3G, 2G, GPS with GLONASS, noise cancellation, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. The Alpha also includes the finger print and heart rate sensors. There is 1860 mAh battery. Galaxy Alpha will be available in different colours. No word about its availability in India.
