Ringing Bells created a lot of buzz by announcing the Freedom 251 smartphone in India for Rs. 251. And after all those controversies, the company is finally gearing up to roll the units in the Indian markets starting next week.

As per the info giving by Ringing Bells to TOI, the company has about 2 lakh units ready to be shipped. The company confirmed that they are making a loss on these smartphones that cost around Rs. 2500. Well almost everyone knew that it was not possible to manufacture the handset for Rs. 251, and good to know that the company has finally realized that.

Ringing Bells however will fulfill the promises and will deliver the handsets for Rs. 251 to those who pre-booked – well condition apply, it will be via a lucky draw as they will not be able to give the handsets to everyone, they have allocated around 10,000 units for each states.

The Freedom 251 website now points to the ringingbells website and there is no mention of Freedom 251 anywhere on their website.

Freedom 251 the cheapest smartphone, sports a 4 inch screen supporting 960 x 540 pixels (qHD) resolution. It is running Android OS – Lollipop version 5.1. This dual SIM handset is powered by 1.3GHz quad core processor (chipset unknown).

Memory, Storage and camera

There is 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM plus micro SD support of up to 32GB. On the back there is a 3.2MP fixed focus camera with flash support and on the front there is a VGA FF camera.

The handset will be made available from next week, it’s cash on delivery and will be via lucky draw, selected users will get an email / phone call – the handset will be delivered and they will need to make the payment at the time of delivery.
