Xiaomi today launched the Redmi Y1 in India. This handset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa core processor and comes with a 16MP camera on the front with LED Selfie Light. Another unique thing is users can use 2x nano SIM + micro SD card all together.

The Redmi Y1 is actually the Redmi Note 5A that was already launched in China, it is the same thing that got a new ‘Y’ series. Inside the hood the Y1 is powered by qualcomm snapdragon 435 octa core processor with Adreno 505 GPU.

Screen is 5.5 inches with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass protected and the same is mentioned on the box pack. The Y1 is running MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat.

There is 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, handset weight is 153 grams and it is 7.7mm thick. The main primary camera can shoot in 13MP resolution (f/2.2 aperture) and the front camera is 16MP with a f/2.0 aperture, both front and rear cameras come with flash support.

Other features are 4G, VoLTE, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Apart from this there is finger print sensor on the back and IR blaster. Redmi Y1 houses a 3080 mAh battery. This handset will be available in Gold and Dark Gray color options.

Redmi Y1 price in India is Rs. 8,999 with 3GB/32GB.

There is one more variant the Redmi Y1 Lite that house a Snapdragon 425 processor and with 2GB RAM for Rs. 6,999.
