Realme along with Realme X2 Pro launched the Realme 5S in India, this is you can say an upgraded version of Realme 5 and it is here to compete with the Redmi Note 8. Both the Note 8 and the 5S come with 48MP primary camera and powered by same processor Snapdragon 665.

Realme 5S is really good handset and comes for a perfect price of Rs. 9,999. There are quad cameras with a 48MP output and packed with massive 5000 mAh battery, add to it the IPS LCD screen of 6.5 inches with HD+ resolution.

Performance is really good, you can play PUBG game to come levels, well for professionals you will need a gaming handset so for Rs. 9999 the 5S does a really good job. The 5000 mAh battery will give you up to 2 or 2 and a half days of battery life. Camera quality is also pretty good.

But even with a really good specifications and the price, one would simply not jump in to buy this handset reason being the Redmi Note 8, that was already launched in India and this handset also comes for Rs. 9,999. There are some spec difference and most importantly users would want to know which camera is better i.e. Realme 5S vs Redmi Note 8 camera review.

realme 5s vs redmi note 8

So here is the Realme 5S vs Redmi Note 8 companion, plus the camera comparison

Before I begin let me share the difference in the specifications among these two handsets.

Realme 5S – Polycarbonate back, Gorilla Glass 3 on front, micro USB port, No Fast charging, 5000 mAh battery, 6.5” HD+ screen
Redmi Note 8 – Glass back, Gorilla Glass 5 on back and front, USB Type C port, 18W fast charging, 4000 mAh battery, 6.3” FHD+ screen

Though both handsets are powered by Snapdragon 665 octa core processor, there is some spec difference, Note 8 has a smaller screen and in fact the body is also a little smaller compared to Realme 5S plus Note 8 comes with FHD+ resolution. On the other handset 5S is bigger screen with HD+ resolution. Though the difference in quality is not much and hardly noticeable, since the price is the same makes sense to go for something extra.

Regarding battery, 5000 is better but not without fast charging vs 4000 is really good and 18W fast charging makes it even better. I would prefer fast charging as that really helps when you are in a hurry, no matter how much battery mAh your handset has.

Now everything depends on the camera performance, before I share the camera samples here are the camera specs.

Realme 5S – 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP on rear and 13MP on front

Redmi Note 8 – 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP on rear and 13MP on front.

Check the samples below (5s | note 8)

As you can see the camera quality is better on the Redmi Note 8 and it does not take time to figure that out. Redmi Note 8 gives captures more details be it in normal mode or 48MP mode and even in low light conditions the camera quality is really good as compared with the Realme 5S. When it comes to macro shots you need to get away from the macro subject on the 5S where as you can get more closer on the Redmi Note 8.

Verdict

Both handsets come with finger print sensor, face unlock, dual VoLTE support and triple SIM slot with a dedicated micro SD card slot. So when you compare both the handsets the Redmi Note 8 seems a better option for Rs. 9,999.
