Qualcomm has unveiled a new SoC (system on chip) called the Snapdragon Wear 2100 and Wear Platform especially for wearable devices. Smartwatches are the new trend and are slowly catching up. But the major issues with most Smartwatches is the battery performance, hopefully this 2100 will take care of that.

This new SoC – Snapdragon Wear 2100 consumes less power and supports ‘always on’, this chipset is smaller in size and more power efficient just about perfect to power Smartwatches and similar kind of wearable devices.  The Wear 2100 will support LTE and comes with low power built-in (WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS).

Wear 2100 is a 32 bit quad core cortex A7 chipset that can be clocked from 800MHz up to 1.2GHz. It makes use of Adreno 304 GPU and supports screen resolution of up to 640 x 480 pixels. This chipset supports quick charger 2.0, LPDDR3 memory and eMMC 4.5 storage.
