Oppo recently announced two variants of R9 handset, the Oppo R9 with a 5.5 inch screen and the Oppo R9 Plus with a 6 inch screen. Though both these handsets are powered by octa core processor they in fact are using different chipsets.
Oppo R9
This smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio P10 64 bit octa core processor with Mali T860 GPU. It sails on Android Lollipop + Color OS 3.0 UI with 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and 128GB micro SD card support. R9 sports a 5.5 inch AMOLED screen supporting 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.
A 13MP camera is packed on the back with LED flash support and 4K video recording capabilities. The secondary (front facing) camera surprisingly is of 16MP resolution. Other features are dual SIM slots (Hybrid), finger print sensor, 4G LTE (VoLTE support), 3G, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth.
Oppo R9 houses a 2850 mAh battery with fast charger (VOOC Flash) support. It is priced at RMB 2799 (approx ₹28700).
Oppo R9 Plus
This handset is using Snapdragon 652 octa core processor coupled with Adreno 510 GPU. It sports a 6 inch AMOLED screen with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. R9 Plus is running Color OS 3.0 over Android 5.1.1.
There is 4GB RAM, optional 64/128 GB of ROM and 128 GB external micro SD card support. A 16MP camera is packed on the rear using SONY IMX298 sensor and front camera is also of 16MP resolution.
Other features are finger print sensor, dual SIM (Hybrid), 4G LTE (VoLTE), 3G, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.1. R9 Plus gets power from a 4120 mAh battery with VOOC flash fast charging support.
Oppo R9 Plus is priced at RMB 3299 (approx ₹33,800) for 64GB version.
These handsets will be available in China within few weeks.
