Along with the Oppo N3, Oppo Mobiles also launched the Oppo R5 that houses a 64 Bit octa core chipset and sports a 5.2 inch screen. But what makes the R5 unique is its size. R5 is 4.85 mm thick and it clearly beats the Gionee Elife S5.1.
For now the Oppo R5 can proudly claim to be the slimmest smartphone in the world and it is priced at $499. On the hardware part this handset is powered by qualcomm Snapdragon 615 – MSM8939 64 bit octa core processor with Adreno 405 GPU. This octa core is clocked at 1.5GHz.
As mentioned the R5 is 4.85mm thick and weighs about 155 grams. It comes with a single Micro SIM and runs ColorOS 2.0 that is based on Android 4.4. The AMOLED touch screen is 5.2 inches supporting 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. 3.5mm audio jack seems to be missing.
Oppo R5 comes packed with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. There is no external SD card slot. Handset also houses a 13MP rear AF camera with Sony EXMOR IMX214 BSI sensor and a front camera of 5MP resolution with 83 degree wide angle lens.
4K videos @ 30fps can be shot using the rear camera. Slow motion videos can also be shot in 720p resolution at 120fps. Key features are 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (b/g/n/a) and GPS. There is a 2000 mAh non-removable battery with turbo charging capabilities. A 5 minutes charges can provide about 2 hours of talk time and a 30 minutes wall charge will revive the battery to up to 75%.
