The Onda Vi40 is an android 4.0 powered tablet running the popular AllWinner A10 Cortex A8 CPU coupled with Mali 400 GPU. This tablet comes with 1 GB DDR3 RAM, a 16 GB internal memory and with a larger 9.7 inch display screen.

We have already seen the performance of the A10 CPU with Mail 400, well this tab comes with the same specs, this means you can play high end games, 3G games and with the 1 GB RAM the system gets even smoother, and there is much more.

This tab has got everything that you want and with some exciting new exiting features but sadly there is no built in 3G/2G SIM slot which means you still have to depend on an external 3G dongle.

Powered by A10 Cortex A8 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz ( I think it will be 1.0 or 1.2 GHz as we have seen with other tablets with similar CPU configuration) the Vi40 runs on the android 4.0 OS. There is plenty of space within the internal storage with a capacity of 16 GB. Just in case, if that is not enough there is a TF card slot for adding extra storage, but I doubt if you will ever need it.

The display screen is 9.7 inches IPS with capacitive technology and multi touch support (5 points). There is no Bluetooth, GPS and 3G does not come built in but external 3G is supported. You can use Skype for video chat using the front facing camera and for decent photography use the rear facing camera with resolution of 5 megapixels, but that is without flash.

This tab is more than half kg’s in weight at 600 grams with thickness of 12mm. The usage time is really good thanks to the 6500 mAh battery that gives a workable time of up to 8 plus hours. Other features are similar to what we have seen on other tablets like Wi-Fi, micro USB, multi format media player, G-Sensors etc.

Overall the Vi40 looks pretty good with powerful processor and good memory, another added advantage is the big display screen with resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels and the 5 MP rear camera. The lack of a built in 3G module, Bluetooth and GPS could have made it a good buy. The Beetabz Prashi and Prashi+ still looks like a good option (ignoring the camera feature).

This tab is available from VeeDeedirect.com for Rs. 16,990 until 20th may, that’s when the shipping will start and from 20th may the new price will be Rs. 18,990.
