BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 is now available for download in India. The software upgrade size is 399 MB and version number is 2.0.0.7972. Playbook users can upgrade it by simply launching the software updates app over Wi-Fi or 3G network.

With the launch of OS 2.0,  PlayBook gets even better. The main features are Bridge 2.0 support, native calendar, content, email support and now you can even run many Android apps on your PlayBook.

The PB OS 2.0 supports android apps that run from a single window. Multiple android apps can be opened and users can easily switch between them. For those who own a BlackBerry PlayBook but are not BlackBerry phone user the 2.0 OS is a boon.

The new update adds native email supports which means you can use any email you want. Just like on any android tablet you can now add a Gmail account too. Playbook will auto sync the email, calendar and the contacts with ease. The BB App World now shows some Android apps, not a lot but more could be added soon.

Other features are improved integration with social networking sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Users will also be able to add twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook account to the integrated email client and view all the messages in one place. What’s more contact information automatically gets populated from Social networking sites.

The improved BlackBerry Bride app makes it even easier to connect BB smartphones via Bluetooth allowing users to view smartphone content on big playbook screen. Moreover the BB smartphone can also be used as wireless mouse or keyboard for the playbook.

2.0 comes with improved mobile productivity, new apps, content, new BB video store and enhanced browsing capabilities. BlackBerry Playbook Wi-Fi version is now available at a throw away price in India and with the latest 2.0 which adds android apps support and native email client, it just gets better.
