Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) the latest browser from Microsoft is now available for download. This is another attempt by Microsoft to get hold of its lost browser share due to rivals like Firefox and Chrome. Fast is beautiful this is what IE9 is all about.
For Indian users here is some good news Internet Explorer 9 is now available in 11 Indian languages namely Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Oriya, Marathi, Punjabi, Konkani, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada and Bengali.
I am using a Windows Vista OS and the auto updates did install the IE9 on my system. When you run the Internet Explorer 9 Browser for the first time you can immediately see the difference. Well I am still a die-hard fan of Firefox which is my preferred primary browser. I would advise anyone who is using the Windows OS to upgrade to the new IE9 browser even though you may not be using it, but if you can do give it a try, once.
What’s new in IE9 browser
It is fast, though I could not make out much of a difference between Firefox and IE9, but both seems to work at the same speed. So you can say IE9 is indeed as fast as Firefox.
Just like the Firefox 4 the IE9 also got a basic navigation and looks and the browser screen is not clustered with too many menu options which mean you get a lot of space for the webpage’s. The address bar in IE9 now functions two ways, you can type the address or initiate the search the results are shown using the Microsoft Bing search engine.
The tab pages are now redesigned and you can quickly access sites that you visit often. The tabs are a bit confusing especially for Firefox users. The tab is shown just next to the address bar and many a times I have accidently clicked the tab which closes the whole IE9 browser. That is something really annoying.
If you are using Windows 7 OS then you can make use of Jump lists, thumbnail preview control, snap and pinned sites features from IE9 browser itself. Microsoft made sure to integrate IE9 with Windows 7. The Add-on Manager has been improved. It constantly checks for add-on performances and notifies user if the particular add-on is slowing down the browser. This is to make sure that the user is using the IE9 browser efficiently.
The download manager in Internet Explorer 9 will now check if the file to be downloaded is malicious and in case it is the user is notified. The privacy features have been enhanced with tracking protection feature that protect / prevents users from communicating with certain infected or hacked sites. The smart screen provides anti-malware and anti-phishing protection so you can be rest assured that you will surf safe with IE9.
