There are already many wearable devices available for Android platform and even the iOS has one. Finally Microsoft also joined the wearable bandwagon, they call it the Microsoft Band, and it works with iOS and Android platforms too. This band is priced at $199, currently available in the US.

The Microsoft Band is powered by Microsoft Health that helps monitor your fitness activities – steps, calories burned, heart rate and sleep quality. The band also provides calendar, email, SMS alerts. One can track his / her daily activities and reach the desired fitness goals – your personal trainer.

The band also comes with heart rate sensor that monitors the heart rate 24 hours a day. Like other wearable devices the Microsoft band  supports voice input – it’s the Cortana at your service from navigation to weather, stocks and more.

Other features are built tin GPS, guided workouts, UV monitor, watch mode (display date and time), smart notifications, Twitter / Facebook support and incoming call alerts. This band uses Bluetooth 4.0 to sync with the smartphones.

The TFT colour display is 1.4 inches supporting 320 x 106 pixels resolution. Apart from heart rate, GPS and UV sensors there is accelerometer, gyro, ambient light, skin temperature, galvanic skin response and a microphone.

There are dual 100 mAh Li-ion polymer batteries that can be fully charged in 1.5 hours. The Microsoft Band is dust and splash resistant and price at $199.
