Micromax has launched a 1.3GHz quad core powered Canvas Xpress A99 with HotKnot feature for Rs. 6,999. This handset runs Android 4.4.2 over a 4.5 inch screen with FWVGA resolution. Along with A99, Micromax had also launched a better version of Nitro.

The HotKnot feature will allow you to share data by touching the two handsets screen to screen. The other devices should also support HotKnot for this to work. You can instantly share videos, data (URL’s, MP3, etc) and images.

The hardware on the Micromax A99 is the commonly used MT6582 quad core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali 400 GPU. IPS touch screen is 4.5 inches with 854 x 480 pixels resolution. Android 4.4.2 runs out of the box with 8GB ROM, 1GB RAM and 32GB external card support. There are 3 sensors – accelerometer, light and proximity.

Canvas Xpress A99 houses a 5MP auto focus camera placed on the rear with flash and a VGA front facing fixed focus camera. 720p video recording is supported. Key features are 3G (21Mbps), 2G EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0.

A99 gets power from a 1950 mAh battery, and as per the company it gives about 7 hours of talk time on a single charge.
