There were rumors about Micromax working on an android tablet which now turns out to be true. It’s the Micromax P-300 an android 4.0 (ICS) tablet that will be launched in India most probably by the end of this month.

Micromax P-300 will be priced at around Rs. 8,000. There are many low cost tablets available in the Indian market; most of them are of Chinese make.  Apart from that the ultra low cost Aakash and BSNL – PENTA seems to be taking their own sweet time because of huge orders.

By launching their first branded tablet Micromax Company which already has a good hold in the low cost mobile segment, will now enter a new arena. The P-300 price is lower than most of the tablets available in the market but the main selling point is the android ice cream sandwich OS, which has now become the latest trend. The ICS also makes Micromax P-300 the best buy among low cost tab.

Some of the Micromax P-300 tablet features that we know include a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. This tab will come with 4 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM. External storage is supported (microSD max 32 GB).

There is a front VGA camera for video chats, Wi-Fi and full HD at 1080p rendering is supported. This Micromax tablet will not come with built in 3G instead you can use a USB 3G dongle.

Interestingly just few days back Homeshop18 started selling accepting orders for this tablet with a price tag of 7,999 along with the images, but they have removed the image now and the availability status has been changed to ‘Out of Stock’.  I guess they are waiting for an official launch that may happen in the coming weeks.
