Micromax has launched the Micromax A84 handset with a 1GHz CPU, 5MP camera and other common features running on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS. The Micromax A84 well, it’s everything you need.
When you look at the handset for the first time you immediately think of the Karbonn A9 or the Spice Mi-425. The design plus the 4 dedicated touch sensitive button – its close enough. The specifications however are a little bit different.
As usual the Micromax A84 Superfone Elite details on the Micromax website is filled with limited information, I will update it as and when I get more info on it. But for now the A84 comes with a single core 1GHz processor, I guess with 512MB RAM, 512MB RAM and with micro SD support.
The Karbonn A9 came with 1GB internal storage where as Mi-425 with about 140MB of free user space. The internal storage on Micromax A84 is not known yet, it could be similar to Mi-425 or better, but for most users this will hardly matter.
The display screen is 10.16cms around 4 inches similar to Mi-425, the Karbonn A9 is with a slighter lower screen size. The 4 inch full multi-touch screen (IPS) supports WVGA resolution i.e 800×480 pixels similar to the A9 and Spice 425.
There is a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. Its auto focus and will be of similar quality as on the Spice phone (you can check the video review of Spice Mi-425). There is front camera of 0.3 megapixel resolution. Videos can be record in VGA mode. For connectivity there is 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and micro USB support. The battery on Micromax A84 is 1630mAh (Li-ion) (its 2000 mAh on Spice) which gives a talktime of 4.5 hours and standby time of up to a week.
The A84 price is Rs. 9,999 – Spice / Karbonn handsets come for around 9,400 to 9,800.
Micromax A84 Review
I have already done a full review on the Spice handset of similar specifications and I believe the A84 also loaded with similar hardware. The only thing to look out for is the internal storage space and the battery life. The internal storage space will not have much impact on the performance; however the battery being of a lower mAh (1630) will give a lower performance as compared with Spice Mi-425’s 2000 mAh battery.
