After launching series of Superfones in India, Micromax Mobiles has now launched the Micromax A80 Superfone infinity a perfect blend of performance and battery life. The A80 sails on an 800 MHz processor with a 2500mAh battery.
Battery life has been a common issue with any smartphones and for heavy users these handsets hardly last for a day. The marathon battery on the A80 will improve the talktime and the standby time. But is the handset really worth it, let’s find out.
Like the A50, A52 and A56 this phone too comes with the Artificial Intelligence Speech assistant (AISHA). The handset is 13.5 mm thin and sports a 9.52cm (3.7 inch) capacitive touchscreen display) with 262k colour .
This Micromax A80 phone runs on android gingerbread (2.3) with access to Google Play. The 800 MHz processor is coupled with Adreno 200 GPU and with a 512MB RAM. The internal storage space (for apps) will be under 200 MB, an external microSD card will be required.
Multitasking is supported; you can even play many games. This is a dual SIM handset supporting GSM (900/1800 MHz) and WCDMA 2100 MHz with dual standby mode. There is a 5MP fixed focus camera with flash that should give a decent output, but an auto focus camera really does a much better job. Camera feature include 4x zoom, night mode and video recording. There is also a front 0.3MP camera.
The connectivity part is pretty disappointing it supports GPRS, EDGE (2.75G) well that’s it, no 3G. Other options are Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and WAP. Like other Micromax handsets this too comes with a lot of pre-loaded apps like Facebook, Google services and Whatsapp – to name a few.
The battery performance is the main highlight. The Micromax A80 2500mAh battery can last for over 12 days in standby mode. The box pack contains the handset, manual, USB cable, battery / charger, hands free and warranty card.
Micromax A80 price in India is Rs. 8,490 with 1 year warranty.

Review
Overall the handset is all about a longer battery life using a less powerful processor. But the screen resolution and the missing 3G support will keep many users away.
