The Micromax A110Q is an upgraded Micromax A110. A110Q is with quad core processor, Jelly Bean OS and 1GB RAM, rest of the features is the same as seen on the A110 dual core version. This handset is priced at approx Rs. 10,500.
A110Q Box Pack
Inside the box you will find the handset, battery of 2000mAh capacity, earphone, data cable, travel charger and warranty / goodies / user manual / hookup guide. The box pack also contains a free flip cover.
Design, Display and OS
The Micromax A110Q also called the Micromax Canvas 2 plus is in fact the dual core Micromax A110 with an upgraded RAM and Chipset. The only difference between the two models is the 1.2GHz quad core, JB OS and 1GB RAM.
Micromax A110 was a very popular handset; you can check the MMX A110 dual core review here. As for the design there is power button on the right, volume rockers on the left, 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB port on the top.
It is a dual SIM handset that runs on the Android 4.2.1 Jelly bean OS. The display screen is the same 5 inches with FWVGA resolution (854×480 pixels). The viewing angle is okay and the touch is smooth though not as good as experienced on new handsets like the MMX A116.
Micromax A110Q review
I will make it quick as it’s the same A110 model with some upgrades. The handset weighs about 168 grams with battery and the thickness is 10.16mm. Wi-Fi hotspot and USB tethering is supported – Bluetooth tethering is not supported.
Of the 4GB storage space 1.48GB is allocated for apps and 1.03 as phone storage. Micro SD card of up to 32GB is supported and you can install or move apps on the external storage. Of the 1GB RAM 672MB is available. The performance is very good without any lags.
The Micromax A110Q is powered by Cortex A7 MediaTek MT6589M chipset clocked at 1.2GHz with PowerVR SGX 544 MP GPU. There is Accelerometer, light and proximity sensors.
Benchmark scores
- Quadrant Benchmark : 4032.
- Antutu Benchmark : 13820.
- Vellmo Benchmark : HTML5 – 1519, Metal – 452.
- Nenamark2 : 55.4fps.
- Multi Touch : 5 point.
The benchmark scores look impressive; this is because of the low screen resolution.
The 8MP rear auto focus camera comes with dual LED support. There is a front camera too of 2MP resolution. The camera quality is good. You can record videos in HD (720) resolution. As for playback you can easily play 720p videos in H/W mode and 1080p in S/W mode.
Other features like 3G, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi worked pretty well. Got a GPS lock within 30 seconds. Sound is loud and clear. I could install the Nova 3 game on this handset and the game play was really very smooth (again cause of low screen resolution) do check the review video.
The battery of 2000 mAh gives a good usage time of over a day with moderate usage. The handset doesn’t heat up much.
Conclusion
The A110 dual core is available for Rs. 10,000 and the MMX A110Q is available for approx Rs. 10,500. It makes sense to go with the A110Q but there are other handsets with same hardware and better screen resolution (qHD), though with a smaller screen (less than 5 inches) for about the same price or even cheaper.
