Mercury mTab Rio now joins the mTab tablet family sporting a 9.7 inch touchscreen display running ICS OS. This 1.2 GHz powered tab is priced at Rs. 11,999.

The 7 inch tablet market is already flooded with many brands and now the manufacturers are trying their luck with a slightly modified versions. The are luring the consumers with bigger screens, better hardware and a competitive price tag.

The Mercury mTab Rio looks different but the specifications are what we have heard before. It runs on 1.2GHz processor with 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. The OS used is Android 4.0 or ICS. The mTab Rio is also available in 16GB version. There are duals cameras a front VGA and rear 2MP 5 MegaPixel.

The IPS capacitive touchscreen display is 9.7 inches. There is Wi-Fi but no built in 3G (you will have to use an external dongle). Mercury claims that the tablet can last for about 6 – 7 hours on a full battery charge. There is no bluetooth (well not really required as there is no phone functionality) and GPS.

The price I think is too high and for the same you can get more features like on iBerry tablets, BSNL 3G tab (7 inch screen) and Wammy Plus (7 inch screen). The iBerry BT10 seems better when compared with this tab.

Tablets or mobile with IPS display technology improves colour quality – makes it look more natural and improves viewing angle.
