Here is a quick look at the LeEco Le 2 and the Le Max2 that were launched in India, yesterday. This is not a review; this article will give you an idea about the handset and initial impression. Le 2 is priced at Rs. 11,999 and the Le Max2 is priced at Rs. 22,999 (4GB RAM) and Rs. 29,999 (6GB RAM).
LeEco Le 2
This handset looks almost similar to the LeEco Le 1s / 1s ECO handset. For the price of Rs. 11,999 the handset is good. Now in India the Le 2 comes with Snapdragon 652 octa core processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 510 GPU. The Le 2 that was launched in China was different – it had deca core (10x) chipset.
Le 2 comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. The 5.5 inch FHD screen also comes with gorilla glass 3 protection. There are borders on the screen (check images below). Also included is a finger print sensor on the back. Le 2 houses a 3000 mAh battery, 16MP PDAF camera on back and 4G LTE.
On the top side there is the IR port that looks like a 3.5mm audio jack, as per the company these handsets are using CDLA technology that makes use of the USB Type C port to deliver lossless audio. To do that the headphone itself comes with decoder unit – in simple term, on other smartphones the handset is doing the audio processing, but on the Le 2 and the Le Max2 the headphone will be doing the audio processing.
The specs also mentions about IR port so the port that looks like a 3.5mm jack is the IR blaster. This also means that users will not only need to spend on the handset but they will also need to buy the headphone to enjoy audio via headphone, users can still use the loudspeaker.
I am not sure if there is any USB Type C to 3.5mm audio converter is included inside the box, I doubt if it would.
The USB Type C CDLA headphone price is Rs. 1990. In case you are planning to buy Le 2 the price will be Rs. 11,999 + Rs. 1990 = Rs. 13,989.
Le Le Max2
This handset falls into the premium category and comes with two options you can either go with 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM for Rs. 22,999 and Rs. 29,999 respectively. It is powered by Snapdragon 820 quad core, competing with Xiaomi Mi5 in terms of price. Max2 comes with 21MP camera and 3100 mAh battery.
I did check the Max2, design is similar to Le 2. Now when compared, the Mi5 definitely looks much better and unique.
I am not sure if I will get the review unit, but will try buying the Le 2 that will be available from 20th June 2016. As for Max2 if I get the review unit well and good otherwise, am going to skip the review, Snapdragon 820 is well known, as for design / build just look at Le 2.
Both these handsets will be available from LeMall and from Flipkart from 20th June.
