Another dual core handset from lava Mobiles the Lava Iris 503 is available for Rs. 8,599. This handset supports dual SIM and comes with 2000 mAh battery. Lava Mobiles had launched several 50x models namely the lava Iris 501, lava Iris 502 and Iris 505 models.

The lava Iris 503 runs on Android 4.2 with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage with 32GB micro SD card support. Of the 4GB internal storage 2.54GB  is available to user – 1.27GB for apps and 1.27GB as phone storage.

The capacitive IPS touchscreen is 5 inches supporting qHD (960×540 pixels resolution) with zero glare in bright sunlight. There are two cameras the rear primary camera is of 5 megapixel resolution and the front secondary camera of 1.2 megapixel resolution. The rear camera is with LED flash support.

Other features are 3G, 2G (EDGE/GPRS), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. We are not sure if GPS is present or missing just like on the Micromax A63 handset. But given the price it should be present.  Battery is 2000 mAh Li-ion that gives a talk-time of up to 7 hours on 2G networks.

dual core Lava Iris 503

The Iris 503 is available for Rs. 8,599, this handset is with 5 inch screen and qHD resolution; the price seems high for this dual core handset. Its competitor the Micromax Canvas Fun A76 is actually selling for under Rs. 8,000 but with an 854×480 pixels resolution. If screen size is not an issue you can get a good quad core handset for around the same price or a little extra.
