Lava Mobiles will now start shipping the new Lava Iris 501 handsets with the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS. The existing Iris 501 customers will also be entitled for a free upgrade.
Unfortunately the update will not happen via OTA (Over the Air) but users who wish to upgrade their handset to Jelly Bean Android version 4.1 OS will need to visit the nearest Lava service centre. Lava confirmed that the upgrade will be free of cost.
The dual core Lava iris 501 though came in late, did have an edge over the Micromax A110. And now with the Jelly bean 4.1 upgrade it naturally becomes the first choice. The handset is now selling on Flipkart for Rs. 7,999. Do check my Lava Iris 501 review.
The Android 4.1 upgrade is now available, so you can rush to the nearest Service centre. It will be better if you call the centre and confirm if they have the upgrade ready. The next 501 lot, by default, will come with 4.1 update. In case you have got one with the ICS version you can always get it updated from the service centre. Lava : Facebook.
