Lava has silently launched a dual core powered handset the Lava Iris 402e (upgraded Iris 401e) that runs on Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The 402e supports 10 Indian regional languages and this dual SIM smartphone is priced at just Rs. 4,999.

Mobile manufacturers have started giving preference to Indian languages we have seen some handset like the Micromax Unite 2 and the most recently launched Spice Stellar Mi-445. The 402e is low cost handset using dual core processor clocked at 1.3GHz.

This handset is using a CTP (Computer to Plate) touch screen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. Screen size is 4 inches. Android 4.2.2 runs the show with 10 Indian regional language support. There is 512MB RAM and 512MB of internal storage. User available internal storage space is 130MB. Micro SD card is supported (32GB).

The Lava Iris 402e packs a 3MP fixed focus primary camera and a 0.3MP fixed focus secondary camera. 402e is light weight at 100 grams and is about 10.35mm thick. This Lava handset does not support 3G. Key features are 2G (EDGE), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. There is no built in GPS either.

Dual core Lava Iris 402e with 10 Indian launguage support

The 1450 mAh Li-ion removable battery gives talk time of up to 9 hours. The price does seem on the higher side considering – no 3G, no GPS and Jelly Bean OS. Iris 402e is priced at Rs. 4,999.
