Lava mobiles known for its hold in the low cost mobile segment is taking a big leap into the high end segment by launching their first high end android phone in coming weeks. Lava along with Intel will soon launch the 1.6 GHz handset at a price of Rs. 25,000. The word is in the model name is Lava XOLO X900.

The handset (code named Santa Clara) name is currently unknown Lava XOLO X900, but the specifications have something that is enough to grab the attention. This handset will be powered by Atom Z2460 Intel Processor running at 1.6 GHz. Manufactures are now shifting their attention from low cost segment to high cost segment and if one may recall Micromax brad too launched its high end android powered handset in India last year.

This Lava android handset will sport a 4 inch touchscreen display with resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels. A high resolution camera at 8 MP resolution adds to the excitement along with HD recording at 1080p and ability to capture photos in burst mode (10 frames per second).

Other features included are an internal memory of 16 GB and micro HDMI port for viewing the output on HDTV. The handset design is equally impressive (designed by Intel – Manufactured by Gigabyte). Handset comes with front facing camera too. There are 4 dedicated touchscreen buttons on the front side.

Intel has jumped into the mobile bandwagon by entering into a partnership with other OEM and carries instead of joining hands with major vendors. I think once the handset is launched other vendors will be keen to launch their branded version running the Intel processor.
