Low cost tablet market is heating up, yet again. There are a couple of new brands that will make an entry into the market like the Karbonn Smart Tab1 and the Attitude Daksha. Well now we have one more tab called the Kobian iXA tablet that comes for a price of just about Rs. 4,000 (Rs. 3,999 to be precise.) and waiting in queue.

You will have to wait until May 23, that’s when the pre-booking will start; the device availability will be announced on the same day. For those who don’t know, Kobian is a well known brand and they are already selling the Mercury mTab in the Indian market.

Kobian iXA specifications and features: This tab is powered by a single core 1 GHz processor with 512 MB RAM and with built in 4 gigs of internal storage. MicroSD card is also supported (32 GB max). The tab runs on the gingerbread (Android 2.3) OS with access to Google Play and sports a 7 inch touchscreen.

This tab is 341 grams and the screen is of resistive technology. The BSNL T-Pads also comes with the same resistive touch screen. It is a bit difficult to adjust with such touchscreen. Other features are a built in Wi-Fi and a front facing VGA camera. The specifications are better than the IS701TR (BSNL Penta) – you get more internal space (4 GB) and more RAM (512 MB).

This tab is especially made for students and masses and comes with a low price tag. Most probably this tab will also come with a built in speaker, 3.5 mm jack and external 3G dongle support. We will cover in more details when it is launched.

Those still waiting for the Aakash tabs should seriously look out for other alternatives and Kobian iXA is one of them.
