The Kitkat update for the popular Sony Xperia handsets have already been rolled out in phased manner. Sony will be rolling the Android 4.4. KitKat update for Xperia Z, ZL and ZR handsets and on the Xperia Z Tablet too.

Sony Xperia users will soon or might have already received the update notification. The update will be rolled out via OTA method. You can also get the update done by visiting the service centre. KitKat 4.4 will bring optimized user interface and improved performance.

The quick settings and status bar has been revamped. Sony’s native apps are also fine tweaked to work with KitKat. There are 4 areas that have got special attention messaging with send animation, email with split screen modes and faster loading, smart social camera accessible when needed with creative effects and battery stamina mode for getting more juice out of the battery.

Quite a few manufacturers have already rolled out the KitKat update, we have seen Samsung rolling out the same on Note 2 and other devices and some more will be getting the update within few weeks / months. Even low cost brands in India like XOLO and Micromax have indicated that they will also roll out the update on some specifics models.
