Karbonn Mobiles has launched an upgraded version of A2 handset called the Karbonn A2+. This dual SIM handset runs on the ICS Android 4.0 OS and is priced at Rs. 4,990.

There is no difference between the Karbonn A2+ and the Karbonn A2 handset in fact they are even priced the same. However the Karbonn Smart A2 is out of stock and probably will not be made available.

So what is the difference between the Smart A2+ and Smart A2, well it’s the OS. The A2+ comes loaded with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. They could have upgraded the A2 to ICS, instead they launched another model with the same specs but with the upgraded OS, probably they do not want to pass on the upgrade to existing A2 owners.

The Karbonn Smart A2+ sports a 4 inch screen with 800×480 pixels resolution. The CPU is single core @ 1GHz. The RAM is 256 MB and internal storage space is 202 MB. There is a 3MP rear fixed focus camera and a front camera of VGA resolution. The handset is 12.4mm thick.

Other features are 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB and 3.5mm standard audio jack. The handset does not support 3G and GPS. A 1750 mAh battery powers up the handset.
