Intex Technologies joins the tablet bandwagon by launching their first android based tablet called the Intex i-Tab which is priced at under Rs. 12,000 and features an 8 inch touchscreen display. This is an 8 inch tablet version and Index will soon come up with 7 inch and 10 inch models.
Index is launching the 8 inch i-Tab which incidentally is priced on the higher side, especially when it does not come with built in 3G. Probably the 7 inch i-Tab will be priced lower than this version. This tablet comes powered by a 1 GHz processor with Android 2.3 OS.
Intex i-Tab features
This i-Tab sports an 8 inch capacitive touchscreen and is powered by A8 Cortex processor clocked at 1 GHz. There is a 512 MB DDR3 RAM with internal storage of 8 GB. For additional storage microSD card up to 32 GB can be used.
The disappoint thing is that this tablet does not have a built in 3G slot, instead you can use 3G data card or dongle. Other connectivity options are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, built in mic and USB port. This tab also comes with internal GPS receiver for navigation.
The android OS itself come with host of Google services and multi format media player. Apart from that office applications and games like Solitaire and Angry Birds comes pre-loaded.
The i-Tab runs on the android 2.3 OS and I am not sure if this can be upgraded to Android 4.0.The battery life is good thanks to the 5000 mAh battery, you can expect up to 5 to 6 hours of backup.
