Infocus M810 review – Premium looking snapdragon 801 quad core powered

Infocus M810 is a premium looking quad core handset that houses the well known Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset running Android Lollipop over a 5.5 inch screen with FHD resolution. This handset is available on Amazon.in for ₹14,999.

M810 Unboxing
Inside the box you will find the M810 smartphone, data cable, travel charger and warranty card / user manual. Earphone is not included.

Design and Display
On the first look one would easily fall in love with the M810. The golden body looks just awesome. It is going to turn heads and in fact the rear side is even more eye catchy. It’s got a metal frame with a golden matte finish.

Weight with battery is 161 grams and dimensions are 76.26 x 153.69 x 7.36 (mm). Build quality and finishing is excellent, handset is indeed tough. The rear side comes with circular texture that expands towards the edges; it gives a nice shinny effect from certain angles. The back panel also comes with a glass layer. It is not specifically mentioned if the handset comes with gorilla glass protection but both the front as well as the back screen are scratch resistant (to some extent).

There is a single speaker and it is placed on the front bottom below the dedicated back-lit navigation buttons. The power button is crown shaped that again gives a unique look complemented with the volume rocker that also look different. Micro USB and audio jack is placed at the bottom.

There are two slots one to hold a single Micro SIM and other to hold a micro SD card. This is a single SIM handset. M810 comes with dual mics for noise cancellation.

The handset sports a 5.5 inch screen with full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution. Colour reproduction, touch and viewing angles are very good.

There is LED notification at the bottom and following sensors – Accelerometer, light, proximity, gyro and magnetic.

Memory, Storage and OS
The Infocus M810 comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. On the first boot you will get about 970 MB free RAM and 11GB free internal storage space. There is micro SD card slot. Apps are getting installed on the internal storage, but there is an option to move to SD card. OTG is supported.

The M810 is running InLife UI based on Android Lollipop 5.0. 2.

Performance
M810 houses the well known Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974 801 PRO-AC quad core Krait 400 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz. It is using the Adreno 330 GPU. Overall performance is very smooth though the handset tends to heat up. You will feel the handset getting hotter on the rear and on the metal sides.

Benchmark

Benchmark App Score
Quadrant 26701
Antutu (32 bit) 1st – 41054 , 2nd – 40681
Nenamark 2 59.1fps
Multi touch 10 point

Heat-up is pretty much the same as seen on others handsets using the MSM8974 chipset.

Gaming
Hardware is very powerful, I played the Asphalt 8 with ease, no lags. The game got installed on the internal storage and by default it was set to high visual quality mode.

Camera
There is a 13MP AF camera on the rear and 5MP on the front. Camera quality is above average. Focusing is quite fast. Rear camera can shoot FHD videos, though the hardware is capable to recording 4K videos but that option is not available. The M810 can play 4K videos. Check the sample images and videos at the end of this review.

Others
Loudspeaker sound is a little lower than as experienced on other smartphones but acceptable. This phone supports 4G, however the 2300 band is not supported (I guess the 1800 band is supported that will be launched in India by end of 2015), I was not able to use Airtel 4G in Mumbai.

There is also mention of CDMA support (EVDO 1x/DO (BCO 800MHz) on the box pack. I am not using CDMA SIM so was not able to test it.

No other issues found with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and Bluetooth. GPS lock is instant.

Battery
This handset comes with non-removable 2600 mAh battery that delivers up to 3 hours of continuous moderate to heavy usage. Battery backup is not that great but with normal operations it could give backup of over 24 hours.

Performance Time Battery drop % Battery Max Temp
Benchmark 16 Minutes 12% 40 degree
Gaming (Asphalt 8) 18 Minutes 10% 39 degree
4K movie play with full brightness + Wi-Fi on 16 minutes 10% 40 degree
Wall Charge (on standby) 2 hours 36 minutes 7% to 100% (charge) 36 degree

Verdict
The Infocus M810 comes packed with a powerful well known hardware with a beautiful outer body. The hardware heats up with heavy usage and you also feel the heat because of the metal body. The current available 4G networks in India, unfortunately is not supported. Handset is slippery but pretty tough.

It is not a bad option, if you are looking for looks and impressed with the design but there are other options available in this price range.

Infocus M810 is available on Amazon.in for ₹14,999.
